Our activities ...

The exciting aspect of the Acorn Community Theatre project is that the possibilities are endless! There will be a programme of activities, events and performances devised by community groups (including the founder groups of ACT), external groups, partners and specialists, local authorities at District and County level, Social Services etc.
In addition to providing a venue for a wide range of performances from local groups to professional touring companies, this facility would allow more young people, families, older people, the disadvantaged and special needs groups to engage in appropriate arts activities. It means improved facilities and exciting new opportunities for our community. The carefully designed and comprehensive facilities of the theatre makes possible training and experience in performing and visual arts, including:
  • Dance Activities for all ages
  • Drama Activities for all ages
  • Musical Theatre Activities for all ages
  • Training in Set & Prop Design & Construction
  • Training in Costume Design & Construction
  • Training in Technical Theatre
  • Masterclasses from Visiting Professionals
  • Digital Cinema
As the lead group, ACT can also bring to the project the proven wealth of arts expertise and experience of its member groups and individuals. In addition, it is seeking to build partnerships with other performing arts organisations from beyond Worksop & District and with Nottinghamshire County Arts to further widen opportunities at The Acorn Community Theatre. The combined input of local groups, external organisations and professional individuals, acts and companies will result in an exciting and diverse range of opportunities for our community to engage in the arts in many ways and on many levels.

100% of any financial surplus derived from operating the Acorn Community Theatre will be used to sustain the theatre and support new community programmes developed by community groups, external groups and partners or by ACT itself..
